- Kuta
The most famous beach resort in the country, Kuta is a renowned hub of fun. Here, travellers from around the world flock to enjoy the sunshine, sand and vibrant nightlife scene.
From 5-star resorts with direct beach access to simple rooms in the heart of the action, Kuta accommodation caters to all budgets. There’s also a wealth of dining options and upscale shopping malls to explore.
Family-friendly attractions include Waterbom Bali and Dream Museum Zone. Meanwhile, gastronomes will find no shortage of mouthwatering meals to indulge in, including Sa’Mesa’s chargrilled whole red snapper and Tanaman’s unique vegan cuisine. Aside from this, you can take in acclaimed tourist landmarks such as Pura Tanah Lot, an ancient temple perched gorgeously on the coastline and surrounded by crashing waves, and Mount Batur, an active volcano where you can witness a breathtaking sunrise over the craggy mountains and lush greenery.
- Ubud
With a long list of unique experiences on offer, Ubud is sure to impress even the most well-travelled visitors. Art junkies will love the Agung Rai Museum of Arts with its 19th-century masterpieces alongside more recent Kamasan and Batuan-style work.
Beyond the art scene, Ubud is also home to some of Bali’s most scenic fine dining. With venues offering sweeping riverside or serene rice paddy vistas, alongside world-class cuisine made from locally sourced ingredients.
Shopping is a popular pastime and it’s easy to fill up on apparel, knick knacks and jewellery at the town’s many markets and galleries. If you’re after a more active holiday, Ubud’s lush jungle is home to 3 temples and more than 600 mischievous long-tailed macaques. It’s worth renting a car to get to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary and Pura Goa Lawah, or Bat Cave Temple.
- Nusa Lembongan
Nusa Lembongan is a paradise for snorkellers and surfers. A world away from the traffic and hawkers of Bali, you’ll find tranquility on this island of white sandy beaches.
Beaches, mangroves and scenic sunsets are the main draws of this island. One of the most infamous attractions is Devil’s Tear where a rugged rock formation is bombarded by crashing waves – it’s a stunning sight to see but remember to show respect to the ocean.
There are no cars on the island so most people hire a small truck with bench seats in the back as a taxi to get around, but the distances are quite short so this isn’t a big deal. Alternatively, many of the hotels and restaurants offer pick up and drop off services from your hotel.
- Lovina
Lovina is a beautiful and peaceful part of Bali where life moves at a different pace to the hustling south. You can relax on black sand beaches, explore the underwater wonders of the sea and take walks through rice fields or visit waterfalls like Gitgit and Sekumpul.
The North of Bali is becoming a more popular area for visitors and offers a more tranquil experience than the mass tourism found on Kuta and Seminyak. It is still full of traditional Balinese culture, delicious restaurants and hotels but at a much slower pace.
It is home to a string of coastal villages including Kaliasem, Kalibukbuk and Anturan all set alongside the serene waters of the Bali Sea. It also boasts stunning natural beauty such as pristine beaches, volcanoes and forests.
- Seminyak
With high-end shopping, boutique day spa’s and a range of luxury holiday accommodation, Seminyak is a destination for those who enjoy the finer things in life. Enjoy a well-deserved massage at one of Seminyak’s many indulgent day spa’s or sit back and watch a beautiful Bali sunset.
Seminyak is also famous for its epic brunch scene, with hip cafes and eateries lining Jalan Kayu Ayu. Stop by Instagram faves such as Kynd Community, Sisterfields or Coffee Cartel.
Explore Seminyak’s artistic scene at the Nyaman Gallery and see a wide selection of local Indonesian art including paintings, ceramics and wearable arts. Almost all of the artwork on show at the gallery is for sale.
